We're switching it up a bit, going with The Lovely Bones. I started re-reading it yesterday and got done with chapter 1.
In the first chapter we meet Susie, she is the girl who gets killed. She introduces us to her life, her family, and her killer. She died on December 6, 1973. She's walking through a corn field on the way home from school, when she comes across this man, Mr. Harvey. Susie knows him because he lives right down the street from her, and her family buys flowers from him. So anyways, he basically says "hey susie, come into my hole," and she does. And it's sad to see what happens, he rapes and kills her... in the first chapter.
And it's terrible. The family is waiting for her to come home, and she never came home..
This book always makes me think of all of the children that have family waiting for them to come home. How often does this happen??? And how does it effect the family members. I'm sure this book will go into that further, though. This book just reminds me (as I hope it will remind you) that there's no guarantee that you'll be coming home tonight. Some things in your life are simply out of your control.

Yeah i know! i love the book and it just makes me so sad to see the dad crying and everything, because how would it break your heart to know your child is somewhere, but you never even knew that they were missing. Like you're waiting for them to come, they just never do. how sad is that?
